Suberi was born a fisherman on the southern shores of Thara, to a father who escaped the Wastes and a mother who'd never seen the desert before. His father is only alive through the kindness of a stranger, and thus their family thinks little before accepting strangers into their home. It is through this welcomeness that he met Barasa, a Chantaran exile who would become his closest friend and adopted sister.
When the Sultan died and the Centurial Trial to crown a new Sultan was declared, Barasa encouraged Suberi to enroll in the trial. He didn't think anything would come of it, but somehow he ended up winning. Now he is Sultan of Thara, and must shoulder the burden of his people.
